Privacy Policy

Danzu ("we", "us") provides AI-powered dance analysis through the Danzu iOS app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. The short version: your videos are deleted as soon as your analysis finishes, they are never used to train models, and we do not sell your data.

What we collect

• Dance videos. Videos you choose to analyze are uploaded to our analysis servers, processed to produce your scores, metrics, and coaching feedback, and then deleted. The video file exists only in temporary storage for the duration of the analysis — we never retain a copy. We do not use your videos to train models, we do not share them with third parties for their own use, and we do not sell them.
• Body movement data derived from your video. To score your dancing we estimate the positions of your joints in each frame and measure how that movement relates to the music. These landmark coordinates are computed in memory during the analysis and discarded with the video; we do not use them to identify or recognize anyone, and we do not build a biometric template from them.
• Onboarding answers. When you set up the app you may answer questions about your dance goals, preferred genres, skill level, practice habits, gender, and birth date. We use these answers only to personalize your analysis and coaching plan.
• Analysis results. Scores, per-axis metrics, and coaching tips generated from your videos.
• Account data.Creating an account is required to use the app. You sign in with Apple or with Google, and we receive the pseudonymous identifier that provider issues — never your password. We also receive the email address on your provider account, which we store so we can reach you about your account. If you sign in with Apple and choose Hide My Email, we only ever see Apple's private relay address, not your real one. Your account, profile, analysis history, and consent records are stored with Supabase, our database provider.
• Product analytics. We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used — for example which onboarding steps people complete and whether an analysis succeeded. This is tied to a pseudonymous identifier, never to your name or email. Analytics collection is off until you agree to it on first launch and stays off if you decline.
• Purchase and subscription data. Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat and Superwall as service providers to manage subscription state and the purchase screen. They receive pseudonymous identifiers and transaction metadata — never your payment card details, which stay with Apple.
• Device context. Your time zone, language, and the app version you are running, plus the date you last opened the app. We use these to schedule reminders at a sensible local hour, to write to you in the right language, and to diagnose problems reported from a specific build.
• Basic diagnostics.Crash and performance data via Apple's built-in mechanisms, subject to your iOS settings.

Apple Health (HealthKit)

Danzu can save what you do in the app to Apple Health using Apple's HealthKit framework. This is optional and off by default — Danzu works normally if you never turn it on. There are two independent switches, and each one asks for your permission the first time you enable it:

• Dance workouts. With Profile → Privacy & Notifications → Log Practice to Apple Health turned on, each finished practice run is saved to Health as a dance workout — its start time, end time, and duration.
• Meals and water. With Sync to Apple Health turned on in your nutrition setup, the meals and drinks you log in Danzu are saved to Health as dietary energy (calories), protein, carbohydrates, total fat, and water.

Danzu only writes to Apple Health. It never reads from it. The app requests write access only, so it cannot see your steps, heart rate, sleep, weight, or any other health or fitness data on your device. That information is never available to us.

Anything Danzu writes to Apple Health is stored on your device by Apple, under your control. It is not uploaded to our servers and it is not sent to any of the service providers listed below. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, we do not use it for data mining, and we do not sell it or disclose it to third parties.

You can turn either switch off inside Danzu at any time, and you can revoke Danzu's access entirely in the iOS Settings app → Health → Data Access & Devices → Danzu. Data Danzu already wrote to Health belongs to your Health record — you can review and delete it in Apple's Health app, and deleting your Danzu account does not remove it.

How we contact you

We send you service messages about your account, your subscription, and problems with an analysis. These are part of the service and are not marketing.

Separately, we may send you practice tips, news about new features, and offers — but only if you asked us to. That choice is optional when you create your account, it is never required to use Danzu, and you can change it at any time in Profile → Privacy & Notifications → Tips & Offers by Email, or by using the unsubscribe link in any such message. We keep a dated record of each time you turn this on or off, so we can show what you chose and when.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your personal data.
• We do not show third-party advertising or use ad SDKs.
• We do not use your videos or profile for anything other than producing your results and improving your experience in the app.
• We do not send you tips, feature news, or offers unless you turned that on, and we do not share your email address with anyone for their own marketing.

Service providers

We rely on a small set of processors to run Danzu. Each receives only the data needed to perform its function on our behalf, and none of them is permitted to use it for their own purposes:

• Modal — cloud infrastructure that runs the video analysis. Receives the video for the duration of processing.
• Supabase — database and authentication. Stores your account, profile, analysis history, and consent records.
• Apple — payments and Sign in with Apple.
• Google — Sign in with Google, if you choose it.
• Anthropic — turns your numeric scores into the written coaching feedback. It receives the metrics, never your video and never anything that identifies you.
• Resend — email delivery. Receives your email address and the message we send you, so that it can be delivered. It does not receive your videos or your scores.
• Mixpanel — product analytics, only after you consent.
• RevenueCat — subscription state management.
• Superwall — purchase screen delivery.
• GoMarketMe — affiliate attribution. Receives your App Store purchase transactions so the creator who referred you can be credited. It does not receive your name, email, videos, or scores.

Retention

Uploaded videos are deleted as soon as the analysis that produced your scores finishes — they are held in temporary storage only, and no copy is kept. Analysis results and your profile remain available so the app can show your progress. Consent records are kept as long as your account exists, because they are the evidence of what you agreed to.

You can delete your account and everything in it from the app at any time (Profile → Delete Account), or by email (see below). Deleting your account removes your profile, analysis history, and consent records.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@danzu.app from the address associated with your request. We respond within 30 days. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children

Danzu is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Access to production systems is limited to what is required to operate the service.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app.

Who is responsible for your data

The data controller for the purposes of the GDPR, and the sender of any email you receive from us, is:

We are based outside the European Economic Area. Where we handle the data of people in the EEA or the UK, we do so under this policy and the rights described above apply regardless of where we are located.
